چکیده

A longitudinal study was carried out in order to evaluate Nosema spp. spore counts two key moments of the year (late autumn and spring) honeybee colonies from five eco-regions Argentina. Three hundred sixty were randomly selected infestation level Varroa destructor assessed spring 2015. In addition, a questionnaire concerning all management practices applied answered by beekeepers. Generalized linear mixed effect models performed determine relationship between risk factors associated with each eco-region. Data scanned identify cluster higher probability achieving high values abundance for sampling period. Spatial distribution seems be explained geographical conditions climatic some implemented

Does Nosema ceranae Wipe Out Nosema apis in Turkey?

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of the Nosema ceranae and Nosema apis among apiaries using both spore counts and multiplex PCR and the replacement of N. apis by N. ceranae in some regions of Turkey. METHODS A hundred honey bee samples were collected from 99 apiaries in 11 different locations in 2011-2012 in Turkey. Nosema infection degree from collected sample...

First Detection of Nosema Ceranae in Jordan

Nosema diseases is known to have two infecting Apis mellifera, Nosema apis and Nosema ceranae. Historically N. apis was known to be well established pathogen of A. mellifera. Whoever N. ceranae was frequently reported to infect the honeybees during the last decade. Both N. apis and N. ceranae are now thought to be widespread across the world. Honey bees are also found to be co-infected with bot...

Individual Variability of Nosema ceranae Infections in Apis mellifera Colonies

Since 2006, beekeepers have reported increased losses of Apis mellifera colonies, and one factor that has been potentially implicated in these losses is the microsporidian Nosema ceranae. Since N. ceranae is a fairly recently discovered parasite, there is little knowledge of the variation in infection levels among individual workers within a colony. In this study we examined the levels of infec...

Infectivity and virulence of Nosema ceranae and Nosema apis in commercially available North American honey bees.

Nosema ceranae infection is ubiquitous in western honey bees, Apis mellifera, in the United States and the pathogen has apparently replaced Nosema apis in colonies nationwide. Displacement of N. apis suggests that N. ceranae has competitive advantages but N. ceranae was significantly less infective and less virulent than N. apis in commercially available lineages of honey bees in studies conduc...

Asymmetrical coexistence of Nosema ceranae and Nosema apis in honey bees.

Globalization has provided opportunities for parasites/pathogens to cross geographic boundaries and expand to new hosts. Recent studies showed that Nosema ceranae, originally considered a microsporidian parasite of Eastern honey bees, Apis cerana, is a disease agent of nosemosis in European honey bees, Apis mellifera, along with the resident species, Nosema apis. Further studies indicated that ...
